CSA Buckets Of Blooms
What is CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It is a way that local individuals and families can help support a farm business within their own community. Participating “Shareholders” (that’s you) share in both the benefits and risks of farm production.
The concept is simple. Participants pay up front (generally in the winter months or very early spring) for their farm product. They then reap the benefits by picking up available product on a weekly basis.
Early season payment helps the farmer at a time of year when income is low but expenses are high. CSA shares help pay for the seed, fuel, field prep, etc. that all takes place long before a product is ever available for pick-up.
Should an emergency of any kind prevent a harvest the shareholder takes a small loss cushioning (a little) the farmer’s large loss. Rest assured, the motivation on the farmers end is always to produce a good crop!
How Does Salt Air Farm’s CSA work?
Participants in Salt Air Farm’s CSA receive a weekly bucket of blooms. A gallon bucket of blooms is exchanged out weekly taking you through an amazing season of cut flowers. No two weeks are ever the same!
